In a game between two NBA powerhouses, the Oklahoma City Thunder upset the New York Knicks 117-107 on Friday night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander resumed his scorching season as the Thunder’s leader. He finished the game with seven rebounds, four assists, and 33 points. Kendrick Perkins, a current ESPN analyst and former NBA champion with the Boston Celtics, was drawn to his performance. Perkins boldly asserted something about Shai on X throughout the game. According to him, Shai is the NBA’s top offensive perimeter player.
Perkins is not incorrect, but it is a contentious issue because other top perimeter scorers like Stephen Curry and Luka Dončić are also in the running. Shai is now among the favorites to win this season’s MVP award and has emerged as one of the NBA’s most dangerous scorers. Shai is shooting 52.8% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range while averaging 31.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.1 blocks a game so far this season. He has developed into one of the NBA’s top perimeter defenders in addition to being one of the league’s top scorers. Oklahoma City is favored to win the championship this season with Shai at the forefront.
