SAD NEWS: Worsening injury, Pacheco Out for Games, Andy Reid confirms to………..

After Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 2 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, running back Isiah Pacheco sustained an ankle injury, with ESPN’s NFL insider Jeff Darlington providing a concerning post-game update.

“In a less-than-encouraging update, Pacheco left the stadium on crutches and wearing a walking boot,” Darlington shared on X (formerly Twitter) on September 15, noting the importance of Monday’s tests.

Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star added further context, describing Pacheco as emotional in the locker room with a towel over his head and watery eyes. Coach Andy Reid offered him comfort before his media appearance. Despite the emotions, Pacheco was still able to walk, but tests were expected later in the week.

Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest noted that while Pacheco was emotional post-game, an Achilles injury was not suspected, though additional tests were pending.

In his post-game remarks, head coach Andy Reid addressed Pacheco’s injury, stating, “The only major injury would be [Isiah] Pacheco with his ankle. We’ll have to see—he’s undergoing tests and x-rays.”

Pacheco, who logged 19 carries for 90 yards in the game, sustained the injury late in the fourth quarter during a short-yardage play when his ankle was caught awkwardly. He limped off the field and did not return.
