SAD NEWS: “Vikings’ top offensive weapon suffers hip injury in clash with Jets”

The Minnesota Vikings lost a key offensive player in Sunday’s matchup against the New York Jets. Running back Aaron Jones exited the game with a hip injury and is listed as questionable to return, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Stacey Dales of NFL Network initially reported the news.

“Vikings RB Aaron Jones is questionable to return with a hip injury,” Tom Pelissero reported on X (formerly Twitter), citing Stacey Dales. Jones was seen limping on the sideline after the injury.

Jones has been a key contributor to both the running and passing games this season, leading the team in rushing with 321 yards and ranking second in receiving yards (143) prior to Week 5. Despite his absence, the Vikings built a 17-7 halftime lead over the Jets, thanks to a pick-six on Aaron Rodgers and a touchdown by CJ Ham.

Before exiting, Jones logged seven carries for 29 yards and a 24-yard reception. Ty Chandler and Myles Gaskin will take over running back duties in his absence, with CJ Ham potentially seeing more action. Minnesota’s run game has been a pleasant surprise this season, helping to keep their offense balanced and allowing Sam Darnold to play in favorable situations. If Jones is out for the remainder of the game, it will be worth watching whether the Vikings can maintain that balance or become more one-dimensional on offense.
