The Texas Longhorns are facing a challenge at the receiver position, but it’s a dilemma that nearly every college football team would love to have. With an abundance of talent in their wide receiver corps, not every player can shine. Consequently, it’s not surprising that some athletes, like former five-star recruit Johntay Cook II, have been sidelined. Cook hasn’t played in the last two games and hasn’t made a catch since September 28, when he dropped a potential 50+ yard touchdown pass from Arch Manning against Mississippi State.
While a game against Vanderbilt seemed like a perfect chance to reintegrate Cook into the lineup with Isaiah Bond unable to play, Steve Sarkisian announced on Monday that he aims to incorporate Cook back into the team, as reported by Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods. Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian expressed pride in how his receivers performed in Isaiah Bond’s absence, Richardson noted on X. He emphasized the importance of getting Bond back and getting Johntay Cook II involved.
The Longhorns have a bye this week, giving Bond more time to recover and allowing Sarkisian to strategize on reintroducing Cook into the lineup.
