“It pains me to see you go” Rangers Captain cry’s out.

Ibrox was rocking on Thursday night as Rangers played host to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League. Scotland-England encounters are always spicy and this one proved no exception as the sides played out a breathless 1-1 draw

Gers took the lead through Hamza Igamane shortly after half-time but his strike was cancelled out by a goal from Swedish star Dejan Kulusevski. There was no sign of the massive financial gulf between the teams and it is the Scottish side who will feel they deserved to take all three points.

Central to their performance was skipper James Tavernier. He has responded well to a tough start to the season – and a spell on the sidelines – and it was his inviting cross that Moroccan striker Igamane volleyed home in the 46th minute.

Tavernier, 33, has become something of a Europa League specialist for Rangers and led the side to the final in 2022. He has netted 10 goals in the competition over the years despite playing as a defender and his 16 goal involvements is second for an Englishman behind only Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
