Our thoughts on the latest Manchester United news and transfer gossip ahead of the Red Devils’ encounter with Brighton.
Ruben Amorim will be looking to extend Manchester United’s three-game unbeaten record this weekend. The Red Devils will face Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon as both try to climb the Premier League table.
On Thursday night, Amad led United to a thrilling 3-1 victory over Southampton, while the Seagulls defeated Ipswich Town 2-0. The Red Devils may have emerged victors, but they were underwhelming for much of the match.
Fortunately for Amorim, there is still time to bolster his squad before the January transfer window closes. So, with that said, the Manchester Evening News has compiled the most recent United news and transfer rumors.
United submitted a new bid for Garnacho.
According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Napoli has made a second and improved bid for Alejandro Garnacho. According to the report, Antonio Conte’s side had previously offered United £40 million for the 20-year-old winger, but are now willing to pay £46.5 million (€55 million).
Garnacho, who has also been linked with a transfer to Chelsea, is claimed to have already agreed personal terms with Napoli on a five-year contract worth £2.5 million (€3 million). However, Tuttosport reports that United are holding out for £60 million and will not let the Argentine depart for anything less.
The Mail on Sunday reports: “If I were Manchester United, I would negotiate a sell-on fee – or maybe even a buy-back clause – and accept Napoli’s bid. That’s a great offer. Unless Alejandro Garnacho pulls his finger out and picks up his performances, I can’t see the Red Devils getting much more than that in the future.”
United’s flop nears a move to La Liga.
According to ABC de Sevilla, Real Betis has made a second approach to sign Antony, increasing the loan cost. The Spanish daily, which was the first to report on the club’s interest earlier this month, says the United winger wants to transfer to La Liga.
