After filing an appeal this week, Barcelona is anticipated to receive word that they would be permitted to register Dani Olmo, if only temporarily.
Several Spanish publications claim that the club would be given a precautionary measure by the Higher Sports Council (CSD) that will permit them to temporarily register Pau Victor and Olmo, who is a target for multiple Premier League teams.
Consequently, following weeks of uncertainty, both players will be allowed to play in La Liga once the verdict is finalized.
Despite being ineligible to play, Olmo and Victor have been added to Barcelona’s Super Cup squad. Mundo Deportivo claims that the club is hopeful that they will be approved for the registrations this week and that it may arrive soon.
After La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) rejected Barcelona’s most recent attempt to re-register the pair, they took the matter to court and announced last week that they will submit a protest.
Olmo and Victor will not be permitted to play against Athletic Bilbao in the Super Cup in Riyadh this evening, despite the recent verdict relieving pressure on President Joan Laporta following yet another turbulent period.
Additionally, Olmo and Victor will not be eligible for the remainder of the season according to CSD’s decision. Rather, the decision acknowledges the strong legal foundation of Barcelona’s appeal, which was filed as a 52-page document.
The body now has up to three months to consider the case before rendering a decision. Meanwhile, Olmo and Victor will be able to play as usual.
Raphinha, a forward for Barcelona, issued a warning on Tuesday that Olmo’s re-registration problems could deter potential future transfer targets.
“I would lie otherwise, so I can’t say the opposite,” Raphinha continued.
Olmo paid £50 million to join Hansi Flick’s team from RB Leipzig last summer.
