Kawhi Leonard Recovers From Injury with a “Huge Step”

Throughout the season, Kawhi Leonard has not played a single minute for the Los Angeles Clippers. Despite missing his team’s first 27 games of the season, the two-time NBA champion is still battling a persistent knee issue. However, this could all change in the near future. Following Wednesday’s practice, Clippers head coach Ty Lue gave a crucial update on the health of his star. Lue stated, “Well, he practiced today, five-on-five with contact,” according to the Los Angeles Times. “It’s great to see him doing that. It turned out nicely. So, before he comes back to play, just keep going and make sure we’re ticking all the boxes. Yes, he will travel, but he will not be playing on this trip.

It is encouraging to see that Leonard is making great strides toward recovery. The unfortunate thing is that he isn’t yet ready to leave. Lue claims that Leonard has already been officially ruled out of the Clippers’ next three-game road trip.

When LA meets the Golden State Warriors at Intuit Dome on December 27, the six-time All-Star will have the opportunity to make his season debut. However, as he gets ready to play again, the seasoned shot-caller disclosed that Leonard is doing well at the moment. Lue remarked, “I can see him getting more excited,” “He has been working really hard to reach this stage. Therefore, it was a big step for him to play five-on-five with contact today. As I mentioned, we must continue with our current course of action. The healthcare team has been excellent. He is excellent at working hard. We simply need to keep building on it from here. The Clippers are in ninth place in the Western Conference with a 15–12 record and are just clinging to a Play-In berth. The campaign is still far too early.
