John Obi Mikel, a former Chelsea player, has criticized Blues head coach Enzo Maresca in his most recent podcast.
Like the majority of Chelsea supporters, Mikel is disappointed with the team’s performance in the last three games after the team’s and the team’s fortunes this season had begun to improve.
At one point, Chelsea appeared to have a chance to finish second in the Premier League heading into 2025. However, they had to settle for the 2024 in fourth place in the league after drawing with Everton, losing to Fulham, and then falling to relegation-threatened Ipswich Town 2-0 on Monday night.
To be honest, I still believe this is going above and above because, according to some polls I conducted on my own Chelsea website at the beginning of the season, very few people thought Chelsea would be in the top four. Therefore, I believe that most Chelsea supporters would be happy with the team finishing fourth if the season ended today and they did not anticipate it at all.
With three right backs on the bench against Ipswich, Enzo Maresca chose to start Axel Disasi at right back. The second goal was Disasi’s fault, and he was terrible.
Mikel stated in terms mentioned on X in his most recent podcast:
“With three right-backs on the bench, why is Disasi playing right-back? The management must begin accepting accountability for points lost.
Additionally, he was cited as saying:
“I don’t understand why the manager occasionally substitutes Disasi at right back and drops Gusto.”
I believe that almost every Chelsea supporter at the moment shares similar concerns and annoyances. It’s okay that he wants to rest the players, but Josh Acheampong is right there!.
