Joao Felix’s transfer to Aston Villa resolves a ‘problem’ that will not go away at Chelsea.

Aston Villa’s interest in Joao Felix may grow as Jhon Duran prepares to complete his £65 million move to Al-Nassr.

Unai Emery is believed to be a big fan of the Portuguese, whom he has attempted to sign on multiple occasions as Villa manager. Last summer, he was close to signing Felix, but the trade fell through because the forward was used in Atletico Madrid’s agreement with Chelsea to sign Conor Gallagher.

Felix has battled for playing time this season, starting only three Premier League games. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is believed to have been in talks with Villa about a possible transfer, and several other teams are keeping an eye on the issue.

Our Football.London Chelsea writer Bobby Vincent has given the dirt on Felix and what Villa would receive if they pursued and agreed to a deal with the Blues…

“Aston Villa would get a technically excellent player,” Vincent stated. “In some aspects, he reminds you of Philippe Coutinho, who Villa fans are quite familiar with, but Felix, at 25, still has a lot to offer.

“It hasn’t worked out for Felix at Stamford Bridge, but that isn’t his fault. The problem for Felix is that he has the great Cole Palmer ahead of him in his preferred position. Enzo Maresca has tried the Portuguese on the left wing, but he has not made much of an impression.

“You want him in the No.10 position, or at least close there, where he can roam between the lines and pick up pockets of space where he can injure .
