JEAN-PHILIPPE MATETA OF FRANCE'S OLYMPICS SQUAD WILL BE CALLED BY CRYSTAL PALACE TO UNDERTAKE MEDICATION TESTS

Jean-Philppe Mateta (27), who was part of Thierry Henry’s France Olympic team, has reportedly been called up by Crystal Palace to undertake medical testing in London, according to L’Équipe. The French forward will now be absent from Les Bleus’ next practice encounter, which is scheduled for Thursday in Toulon against the Dominican Republic.

Fortunately for the France U21 manager, the former Lyon striker will be returning to France on Friday, meaning there will be no doubts over his participation in the Olympics. Under Oliver Glasner, Palace wants the 27-year-old to participate in a few standard medical examinations as part of their preseason preparations.

When France played their first Olympic warm-up match, Mateta was the team’s star player. The forward for Crystal Palace defeated Paraguay 4-1, scoring a brace. Mateta proved to be the Premier League team’s most dependable goal scorer last season, so they will be hoping he can avoid injuries during the campaign.
