Embattled Gareth Southgate believes it’s time for England to step up as they look to move past a lackluster group stage and advance by defeating Slovakia in the round of 16.
England are favored for Sunday’s last-16 match, with Slovakia’s head coach Francesco Calzona acknowledging that England has the best squad in the Euros and could become “unbeatable” if they play cohesively.
In a press conference on Saturday, June 29, Southgate stated: “We recognize that we’ve done some things well and need to improve in other areas. But I’ve seen positive signs from the Slovenia game and since then, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s match.”
