Former Wigan Athletic and Tranmere Rovers forward signs with AFC Fylde

Charlie Jolley, a former attacker for Wigan Athletic and Tranmere Rovers, has joined AFC Fylde as their newest summer addition.

The 23-year-old made his debut in last Friday’s preseason friendly at Lancaster City after agreeing to a two-year contract.

Jolley, who came through Wigan’s junior system, participated in six games with the first squad before moving to Tranmere in January.

After overcoming a knee injury that prevented him from playing in the 2022–2023 season, he scored eight goals in 44 games for the team before being let go at the end of the previous campaign.

Jolley said on the Fylde website: “It’s exciting to come here and see the facilities, the stadium, and the training ground. Hopefully, we can pick up some good form on the field this season.”

“Obviously, my ambitions as an attacker are to score goals and provide positive energy to the upper half of the pitch. I want to be a terror to play against, one that creates opportunities and exudes enthusiasm.

“I need to play some games, and perhaps this will be the ideal opportunity for me to do so. I’ve played with a few guys here previously, so I know what they’re like, and from what I’ve heard, they’re a great, progressive club.
