Following his radio interview, Jerry Jones spreads trade rumours involving the Cowboys.

Jonathan Allen - Aiming for the Heavens

The Dallas Cowboys trade market has been unusually active lately, and Jerry Jones alluded to other moves on the interior defensive line Thursday night. By the beginning of the year, the Jordan Phillips deal may essentially be ancient news to the fans.

Jones mentioned in an interview with 105.3 The Fan that there will be opportunities to trade with clubs at the conclusion of training camp in order to obtain more defensive line reinforced

In an ideal world, the Cowboys would extend the contracts of Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, and CeeDee Lamb and then acquire Jonathan Allen to finish the defence.

Trade rumours about this two-time Pro Bowler and career long Commander surfaced earlier this offseason and again in the early summer. Some new information suggests that selling him to Dallas might be a realistic move.

First off, even though a division rival trade seems unlikely, Dan Quinn remains a wild card in the trade talks between Washington and Dallas.

Some prior draft picks that the Cowboys may cut to get the roster down to 53, like Viliami Fehoko or Israel Mukuamu, would be of great interest to the former Cowboys DC.

Releasing Allen, who is approaching his second-to-last season under contract, would also provide room for Johnny Newton, a defensive tackle selected in the second round of the 2024 draft.

I mean, I’m not naive; at this point, this would be a rather surprising turn of events. But a fourth-round pick plus one or two “Quinn guys” might be sufficient to acquire the player who could be the last missing piece of Dallas’ defensive jigsaw.

2018 Dallas Draft Target Taven Bryan

You will recall how much the Cowboys cherished Taven Bryan, a Florida Gator at the time, if you can go all the way back to the 2018 NFL Draft cycle.

The defensive tackle who was good at stopping passes made several trips to Dallas and was a strong candidate to be selected with the 19th overall pick. Even though Leighton Vander Esch, who recently retired, was chosen by the team, Bryan might be the one to wear the star last.
