As we enter a new transfer window today, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has given us an update on the status of one Chelsea attacker.
As we enter a new year in the form of 2025, the January window has now formally opened, and we will undoubtedly begin to hear and see rumors taking root.
Christopher Nkunku, an attacker for Chelsea who has been linked to a move away from the club, started Monday night’s Chelsea loss to Ipswich Town, but he has mostly been relegated to the bench or started cup games only, which is something he will undoubtedly be unhappy about and want to play more of, according to Romano’s updates for GIVEMESPORT this week.
GIVEMESPORT quotes Romano as saying:
Let’s observe what transpires with Nkunku as well. Despite the fact that he is constantly in the press, Chelsea is adamant about keeping the player with them.
Only if Nkunku gets there and tells them, “Okay, I want to leave, I want to play more,” will things change.
Then, things might be different, and Chelsea might think about adding another offensive player. However, they are currently content with their squad.
To be honest, I can actually imagine Nkunku stating that he wants to go. He is in a position where he simply needs to be playing football because he is not getting any younger. He is not a young man who is content to wait for his opportunity to play. He must play regular football in league games and cup competitions for the sake of his career and his international career.
