Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United is preparing a new bid for Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu after their first offer was rejected. The Red Devils are willing to submit a new offer to sign the Danish full-back in January after Lecce rejected their first bid of €27 million (£22 million). Romano says United won’t be able to meet Lecce’s demanded valuation of €40 million (£33.8 million) with their second bid, but they will attempt to move forward in Dorgu’s pursuit. The “elite” 20-year-old is reportedly eager to move to Manchester in the middle of the season, with no personal complications anticipated.
Dorgu, a 20-year-old left-back by nature, has started all 20 of Lecce’s Serie A games this season, scoring three goals and dishing out one assist. According to Romano’s YouTube account, United and Ruben Amorim “love” the player. Although Man United hasn’t recorded any transfer activity in January, they are believed to be prioritizing the signing of a new left wing-back before the transfer deadline on February 3rd. The Red Devils are also expecting senior departures, with winger Antony now expected to join Real Betis on loan and Marcus Rashford still looking into temporary options.
