Bryson Webber discusses his thoughts on Nebraska's new DBs coach and the Husker committment.

On Sunday, Bryson Webber selected Nebraska over TCU and Utah, announcing the Huskers as the winner.

The defensive back from Ridge Point (Texas) High School was interviewed by Husker247 on Sunday to hear his opinions on what made Nebraska stand out from the competition. And what did he think at first after speaking with John Butler, the new defensive backs coach at NU?

First, the choice.

Will Hawthorne has been making notes on his views and having the in-depth discussions that one should have with those who are closest to him. The choice will be made shortly, most likely even before the page turns of the calendar.

There are two schools left for the linebacker. Either Iowa State or Nebraska. He has known ISU for a long time because he resides in North Ames. “I bet if I stood on my roof I could see some of the taller buildings on campus from where I’ve at right now,” he said. “It’s like a 7ish minute drive.”

But since receiving the Husker offer on June 8, when he was camping in Lincoln in a cast because he had broken his left thumb, Nebraska football has undoubtedly also been on his mind.

“I broke my hand on a Thursday and I was supposed to get surgery, like, quick…” About that unforgettable camp weekend, Hawthorne said. “On Friday, they wanted me to have surgery. I said, “No.” I had to leave for camp in Nebraska. I had a cast put on after that, and I left for camp. a cast is on a broken thumb. Though I was unable to catch any balls, I suppose they still had faith in my ability. And during the camp, they made me an offer. Thus, it was quite thrilling. The fact that it was the only camp I had ever attended while injured made it stand out.”

It’s painful, but the story is really well-written. It’s the next section of the narrative that everyone is eager to see.
