Newcastle stars set to collide at Euro 2024 as last 16 draw and bracket is confirmed

With the conclusion of the Euro 2024 group stage last night.......

With the conclusion of the Euro 2024 group stage last night, the last 16 draw and bracket are now set as we head into the knockout rounds in Germany.

The draw is favorable for England, who will play against Slovakia. This setup also means that several Newcastle players could soon face each other. Kieran Trippier, Anthony Gordon, Fabian Schar, and Martin Dubravka have all advanced from their groups.

As shown in the last 16 fixtures and bracket, Trippier and Gordon will play against Dubravka’s Slovakia in a match scheduled for 5pm on Sunday at the AufSchalke Stadium in Gelsenkirchen. The winners of this match will go on to play either Italy or Switzerland. Consequently, Schar could potentially be the next opponent for Trippier and Gordon if England defeats Slovakia and Switzerland overcomes Italy in the 8pm game on Sunday.

England will need all the help they can get after three lackluster performances in the group stages, but it’s worth noting that they have ended up on the more favorable side of the draw. The top half includes heavyweights like Spain, Germany, Portugal, France, and Belgium.

The bottom half features four Newcastle players, meaning that one of the following teams—Romania, Slovenia, Netherlands, Austria, Turkey, Czech Republic, Georgia, England, Slovakia, Switzerland, or Italy—will reach the final in Berlin on July 14th.

According to the bookmakers’ odds, the last 16 line-up could look like this:

– Spain vs. Germany
– Portugal vs. France
– Netherlands vs. Austria
– England vs. Italy

While it’s never that straightforward, let’s hope England can improve their performance and take full advantage of this favorable draw.
