REPORTING: Mike Gundy addresses injuries that occurred during fall camp!

Oklahoma State has reached the halfway point of its 2024 fall football camp.

Head coach Mike Gundy is far from inexperienced; he’s skilled in navigating the media and sidestepping questions. With 20 years of coaching under his belt, he candidly expresses his views while also safeguarding his players.

After Thursday’s practice, which marked the 13th session of fall camp, Gundy was questioned about the speculation surrounding an injury to standout running back Ollie Gordon.

“I won’t comment on any injuries,” Gundy stated clearly. “The only person who knows about injuries during camp is me. I don’t share that information.”

On Tuesday night, news emerged regarding Ollie Gordon’s injury, with speculation about its seriousness ranging from a torn ACL to a minor bruise. Gordon, a preseason All-American, is coming off a remarkable season in which he rushed for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns on 285 carries, earning the Doak Walker Award.

When asked about the overall health of his team with less than two weeks until their season opener against South Dakota State, Gundy responded, “They’re doing great. They’re in good shape. The coaches are a bit fatigued, but the players are performing well.”

Oklahoma State kicks off its 2024 season at home against two-time defending FCS national champions South Dakota State on August 31 at Boone Pickens Stadium. The Jackrabbits from Brookings, South Dakota, have not lost a game since September 2022, when they narrowly fell to Iowa.

Gundy and his coaching staff have spent the entire offseason emphasizing the strength of South Dakota State to their team.

“They’re physical, tough, and rarely out of position,” Gundy remarked about the Jackrabbits. “They’re extremely well coached. Their point differential from last season was significant. They are definitely capable of competing against a Power Four conference schedule. As I mentioned earlier, teams that haven’t experienced a loss in a long time are tough to face because they don’t know how to lose.”

The Jackrabbits enter the 2024 season ranked No. 1 in the preseason FCS poll.

Under Gundy, Oklahoma State has never lost to an FCS team (14-0) and has a strong home record of 95-29.
