Mark Beesley acknowledges that he didn’t have any grievances regarding Warrington Town’s Saturday afternoon opening-day loss.

His current priority is ensuring that his team takes note of the mistakes they made during their 3-1 loss against King’s Lynn Town.

The Yellows’ second National League North season got off to a rough start when Matty McDonald’s goal came late in the game, with the team down 3-0.

The hosts got off to a strong start thanks to two goals from Linnets striker Gold Omatoyo, who also missed a penalty kick in the first half. Beesley acknowledges that although his team had some positive moments throughout the match, they weren’t the best on the day.

Omatoyo opened the score in the ninth minute with a close-range header from a corner, but King’s Lynn seized control after that. Goalkeeper Dan Atherton had to make an outstanding penalty save to keep Town in the game at the half.

But only three minutes after the break, Hughes scored the team’s second goal thanks to a wayward ball inside the box, and a crushing defeat appeared when Omatoyo headed in his second just before the hour mark.

But McDonald’s goal, a skillful finish after home keeper Paul Jones was forced to make a mistake by replacement Gez Sithole, did at least ensure they weren’t left off the scoresheet.
