According to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources, FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has approved the club’s possible January transfer market signing. Flick and Deco, the club’s Sporting Director, had previously agreed that no changes would be made to the squad, either inbound or outbound, until June, at the latest, when the 2024–2025 season was already over. However, recent events in Catalonia have forced a change to that original plan, as Barca sought to find a way to get summer signings Dani Olmo and Pau Victor registered after December 31. President Joan Laporta organized the $102 million sale of VIP boxes in the Spotify Camp Nou, allowing the Blaugrana to finally return to the 1:1 rule under Financial Fair Play limits.

Flick has agreed to sign Rashford before the winter transfer window closes, according to reporter David Bernabeu of the same paper on his podcast La Posesion. Rashford would ideally give Raphinha more options on the left wing, where he currently plays. Although the Brazil international is playing at his best and will probably keep his spot even if the Englishman moves to Montjuic, Rashford’s presence would allow Lamine to occasionally take a break as Raphinha returns to the right wing spot he held prior to the Golden Boy teenager’s ascent. With just over two weeks left before clubs can’t be able to buy again until the summer, Barca needs to move fast to acquire a forward that Flick wouldn’t mind being.
