Only 48 hours into his rule, West Ham makes a startling remark about Graham Potter.

Graham Potter was only introduced by West Ham on Wednesday night, but in just 48 hours, he has already witnessed the highs and lows of the Hammers.

After signing a contract with West Ham after Julen Lopetegui was fired, Graham Potter was formally introduced on Thursday morning.

Those negotiations were going on in the background for some time.

But in an official capacity the truth is from Monday, when West Ham majority owner David Sullivan made the decision to remove Lopetegui.

The reason those talks dragged on for what became an uncomfortable three days, was the length of Potter’s deal.

Potter, who has been supported by vice-chair Karren Brady since West Ham’s loss to Leicester on December 3, accepted a six-month contract shortly prior to the Hammers’ match against Wolves.

The game was billed a must-win for Lopetegui.

Somehow, thanks to Wolves’ woeful finishing and the help of three poor VAR decisions, West Ham got a win which continued the Spaniard’s farcical reign.

The length of Potter’s West Ham contract becomes significant.
The issue is that Potter wasn’t thrilled with the six-month probation at first.

However, West Ham had put themselves in a difficult situation.

Potter therefore had all the cards.

He desired a two-and-a-half-year contract because it would give him more security and breathing room.

Understandably so – after all what can he realistically achieve in six months with an inherited squad?

There has been claim and counter claim about whether Potter’s Hammers deal contains certain clauses.

Some sources have claimed it is simply a straight contract.

Now West Ham have dropped a stunning Potter statement just 48 hours into his reign.

West Ham fans were impressed by Potter’s desire to take command of their FA Cup third round.
