Following the vicious Enzo Maresca axe, Chelsea begins their first January transfer.

Enzo Maresca is targeting a new defender ahead of the January transfer window, according to the most recent Chelsea transfer reports.

Many members of Enzo Maresca’s team are facing uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge for various reasons; Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell may be the first to force a move, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Cesare Casadei are likely to leave on loan. Chelsea is expected to be relatively quiet with the number of incomings in the January transfer window, but there will be movement with players leaving.

Maresca verified that neither player was hurt following the game. “For sure, the competition has to be higher but not only for Noni Madueke but also Renato Veiga was not in the squad and the reason is exactly the same for both of them,” stated the coach.

“There is not any different reason, it’s just a technical decision.

Although the technical reason for Veiga’s absence is unknown, reports have linked the club with a new left-back in Patrick Dorgu, a 20-year-old who has drawn attention with his performances in Serie A with Lecce and has reportedly been watched by Chelsea’s recruitment team. In addition to playing in midfield, Dorgu’s contract expires in 2029, which puts Lecce in a strong position to demand a healthy fee. Veiga, 21, has made 17 appearances for Chelsea this season, but only seven in the Premier League.
