Arsenal crushed Crystal Palace 5-1 at Selhurst Park in the Premier League, with defender Nathaniel Clyne receiving only a yellow card for his careless charge on Riccardo Calafiori.
After it was decided not to send Nathaniel Clyne off, the Premier League issued a statement during Arsenal’s victory over Crystal Palace.
Clyne’s decision to stay on the field after a challenge had irritated the Gunners. At Selhurst Park, the Eagles defender’s poor tackle in the 79th minute left Riccardo Calafiori writhing in agony.
Arsenal, who already had a 4-1 advantage, would have been concerned that their defensive injury problems had gotten worse. In south London, Italian sensation Calafiori managed to stay on the field and assist Declan Rice in completing the goal.
Match referee Simon Hooper deemed Clyne’s challenge merited merely a yellow card. Stockley Park’s VAR officials concurred with the ruling, stating that the challenge did not constitute “serious foul play.”
However, Arteta’s concerns about his injury have only grown since Bukayo Saka was forced from the pitch due to a hamstring injury. Raheem Sterling, who was ruled out before the game, is joined on the sidelines by the talismanic figure.
“He felt something in his hamstring,” the Saka native stated. “He was unable to go on. He will need to be evaluated. I’m a little concerned about that one.
Now, it’s challenging to do that [provide an estimate]. They put him through an internal exam, but it’s hard to assess how bad it
is.
I’m not positive if it’s the same one. The same leg has it. He sustained his third minor injury; I’m not sure how serious this will be. However, he had two already.
He went on, “And Raheem as well,” “We don’t know how long Raheem will be gone, but he passed away yesterday. It’s not ideal to lose two players in a day. Regretfully, given the quantity of games we play and our current schedule, I am not surprised. However, the group will respond to tha
