When Brentford visits Chelsea on Sunday, Jadon Sancho is expected to receive another start as a reward for his excellent recent play.
The summer acquisition started the Blues’ comeback against Tottenham last weekend after scoring his first goal of the season in a 5-1 loss at Southampton.
Sancho and Noni Madueke have a spot on the flank as Pedro Neto was suspended after receiving five yellow cards.
Otherwise, Enzo Maresca, who as usual made drastic changes to defeat Astana 3-1 in the Conference League midweek, is to blame. Expect Moises Caicedo to return to midfield with Malo Gusto at right-back after the experiment of starting him at right-back was abandoned against Spurs at halftime, with tremendous success.
Wesley Fofana and Reece James are still “weeks” away from playing, so Benoit Badiashile, who was once again quite nervous, should start with Levil Colwill.
Sanchez, Gusto, Badiashile, Colwill, Cucurella, Caicedo, Enzo, Madueke, Palmer, Sancho, and Jackson were the players in Chelsea’s expected starting lineup.
James, Fofana, and Kellyman are injured.
Neto was suspended (five yellow cards).
