JUST IN! Guardians legend Travis Hafner gets Game 4 first pitch honor

On Friday night, Progressive Field will be filled with nostalgia as former Cleveland Guardians star, Travis Hafner, returns to throw the ceremonial first pitch ahead of ALCS Game 4. Hafner, a significant contributor to the Guardians during his prime, is fondly remembered for his strong presence at the plate.

Travis Hafner, a member of the iconic 2013 Yankees, will deliver the ceremonial first pitch before ALCS Game 4 tonight, according to Brian Hoch on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Hafner, lovingly dubbed “Pronk”  a fusion of “Project” and “Donkey” — made a lasting impact while playing for the Guardians. Between 2002 and 2012, he emerged as a key offensive player in Major League Baseball, mainly for Cleveland. His career showcases impressive power hitting, featuring a lifetime batting average of .273, along with 213 home runs and 731 RBIs across 1,183 games.

His finest season was in 2006, when he attained a personal best with a .308 batting average, hit 42 home runs, and racked up 117 RBIs. While this outstanding performance almost secured him a Silver Slugger award, he remained one of the most formidable designated hitters in the league throughout the mid-2000s

Choosing Hafner to throw the first pitch honors his significant impact on the team and his enduring popularity in Cleveland. His powerful left-handed swing and knack for driving in crucial runs established him as a key player during some of the Guardians’ most exciting seasons in the early 21st century.
