Even though it was a close game (20–15), the New York Giants’ defeat to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night, September 26, has left both fans and players angry. The Giants have lost 14 of their last 15 games against the Cowboys, and head coach Brian Daboll of the Giants is currently 0-5 versus them.
Daniel Jones, the quarterback for the Giants, said he was disappointed with the outcome even though he felt he played better against the Cowboys. For supporters who are growing impatient with the Giants’ record, Jones nevertheless has a compelling message.
Daniel Jones Talks Cowboys Loss and Moving Forward
After Thursday’s game, Jones addressed the media with a brief but clear message about the Giants’ future, saying, “We’re not discouraged.”
This statement came after he was asked whether he felt positive about competing closely with the Cowboys.
“No, we don’t feel good. We don’t feel good about losing,” Jones responded. “We didn’t do enough to win, and we’re frustrated. But we’re not discouraged. We still have confidence in our team and what we’re capable of, but no, losing doesn’t feel good.”
When asked about the frustration of not getting his team into the end zone, Jones admitted it was “very frustrating.”
“We’re expected to score touchdowns.”
“We’re expected to score touchdowns and put points on the board,” Jones said. “In a game where I felt like we did a lot of things well, moved the ball effectively, and executed many aspects, we didn’t capitalize in the red zone and couldn’t finish the drives, which is frustrating.”
When asked about the team’s inability to score a touchdown at home this season, Jones acknowledged the challenge.
“Yeah, we need to finish drives and punch it in,” he said. “We did that well last week in Cleveland and in Washington. There’s nothing different about this field; it’s the same size, and we’re playing the same game. We just have to get the ball in the end zone.”
Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll Praises Daniel Jones
Jones had a solid performance on Thursday night, completing 72.5% of his passes, going 29-of-40 for 281 yards. He was sacked once and threw one interception, though it occurred during a Hail Mary attempt.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll praised Jones during the postgame press conference.
“It was a tough and competitive game that came down to the end,” Daboll said. “We missed a few opportunities to keep drives alive, but Daniel (Jones) played well, making good decisions and solid throws. We couldn’t get our run game going, despite trying different approaches. Credit to them for shutting it down. The big play to #88 (CeeDee Lamb) was a key moment, but overall, it was a hard-fought game. Give them credit for the win. It was a tough one.”
