Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has come under fire for allegedly selling one of the “best players in the Premier League.”
It is difficult to dispute that Arteta has not been successful at Arsenal, even though he still hasn’t won the Premier League title.
In his first season back at the club, he won the FA Cup trophy. Since then, he has made Arsenal a squad that can consistently fight for the title and accumulate more than 80 points in the Premier League.
Arteta might have already won one or two league titles if it weren’t for Pep Guardiola’s record-breaking Manchester City team.
In addition, Arteta has received recognition for restructuring the Emirates Stadium’s culture, eliminating several negative influences from the locker room, and bringing in players that share his and the team’s values.
Arteta has been informed that he sold Emiliano Martinez, one of the top two goalkeepers in the Premier League, but not all transfer decisions have been successful.
Martinez was moved to Aston Villa in 2020 after nearly ten years with Arsenal, however he only made 38 first-team appearances and was sent on six loan stints.
Since then, the 32-year-old has played a key role in Argentina’s World Cup victory in Qatar and assisted Villa in earning a spot in the Champions League.
Martinez is regarded by Premier League legend Jussi Jaaskelainen as one of the two best goalkeepers in the English top division, along with Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, based on his exploits for both club and country.
The former Bolton, West Ham, and Wigan goalie told Ladbrokes, “I’m going to have to narrow it down to two because it’s difficult for me to choose the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
