Here are some waiver wire alternatives to David Montgomery for his fantasy football managers who are still keeping an eye on things.
It’s becoming difficult to understand the long list of injuries the Detroit Lions have had to cope with over the past eight weeks. Practically speaking, four players sustained injuries during Sunday’s defeat to the Buffalo that appear to be season-ending.
When it comes to fantasy football, running back David Montgomery is undoubtedly the star. His real-life regular season is probably done, and with two weeks remaining in many leagues, he will be out for the remainder of the fantasy season regardless of how serious his MCL injury is.
With an additional element as a pass catcher that he lacked last season (36 receptions for 341 yards), Montgomery is enjoying a good season (775 rushing yards, 12 touchdowns). Even though it is unlikely to make a difference, he is no worse than RB13 in any fantasy scoring system, with two games remaining in Week 15.
A significant portion of fantasy managers are disengaged and out of the running for the title this year at this point in the season, which is approaching Week 16. Montgomery was undoubtedly on the rosters of a good number of them.
Montgomery fantasy managers, however, still have a lot to aim for, whether it’s a championship, a consolation bracket, or just avoiding last place in their league.
